Abhishek-Ajay in remake of 1979 Golmaal
Director Rohit Shetty is all set to make another Golmaal,
but this one will not belong to the popular Golmaal series. Shetty will make a re-make of the
original Golmaal, directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee in 1979. The film will star actors Ajay
Devgn and Abhishek Bachchan.
On the insistence of Devgn, the director will be re-making Golmaal (1979), one of the finest comedies that B-Town has produced till date. Reportedly, Ajay will be producing the film and has already decided on the cast of the film.
To avoid the confusion between the remake and the Golmaal series, the film will be called
as Bol Bachchan. Abhishek will essay the role that Amol Palekar played in the original, while
Devgn will play the role played by Utpal Dutt.
Ajay chose Junior Bachchan because he is very fond of the actor and treats him as his
younger brother. Mid Day reports that Abhishek confirms the news of the re-make,
“Ajay was very keen that we do one, and Rohit has rewritten the script with such affection
and so cleverly."

Dum Maaro Dum Review
Story
Every paradise has a few snakes and so has Goa, the tourist paradise in India. There is something special about Abhishek Bachchan playing the role of a cop. Be
it Dhoom series or Dum Maaro Dum, the attitude that Abhishek carries as a cop comes
out clearly in all of his films.
ACP Vishnu Kamath (Abhishek), who has a tragic past, gets another chance to reform it.
He is called for a horrendous task of clearing all the mafia drug-dealings that exist in the
very DNA of the city. Fighting against the giant drug mafia (Aditya Pancholi) with a corrupt
police department and trying to save the innocents (Bipasha Basu, Prateik Babbar and
Rana Daggubati) involved in the process, Kamath puts in best of his skills to make a
drug-free-Goa. Of course, this goal of cleaning Goa would not have been possible without
the local DJ Joki (Rana) and his girlfriend Zoey’s (Bipasha) help.
Plus Points
Director Rohan Sippy, with Dum Maaro Dum, has managed to impart a brilliant story in a
perfect style. With all the characters in the film, he has managed to set the perfect
mood and successfully created a
chor-police drama. All the credit goes to the brilliant dialogue writing (by Shridhar Raghavan
and Charudutt Acharya) that manages to keep the audiences glued to the screens.
The power packed performance delivered by each character in the film is the USP of Dum
Maaro Dum. Camera work and editing are superb with sharp and edgy cuts, showing Goa
through a different kaleidoscope. Music by Pritam goes along the scrip setting a perfect
tone for Dum Maaro Dum.
Loop HolesThe script writing is the biggest drawback in the film. After a point of time the content
fails to hold the attention and the only thing that keeps you going are the performances
and the dialogues in the
film. There are instances post-interval that leaves you haywire. For instance, there are
portions like Abhishek injecting drug in-order to extract information from the mafias, which
puts you off. Next, one is totally left wondering as to what Prateik reveals in the letter that
actually helps Kamath (Abhishek) find the real suspense of the drug mafias.
At the end of the movie one still tries to figure out as to why DJ Joki (Rana) is so adamant
on saving Prateik, that too at the cost of his love Zoey (Bipasha Basu). Besides, the pre-climax,
where the protagonist (Abhishek) of the film is side lined and the supporting character (Rana
becomes the hero at the end, is a major let down. A few unlinked threads in the writing are the
reasons why Dum Maaro Dum lacks dum.
Rana Daggubati’s debut in Bollywood with Dum Maaro Dum goes un-noticed in the entire film,
except for the last part where he is brought to limelight and emerges as the hero in solving the
mafia case.
Over AllOver all the film is a onetime watch, with brilliant dialogues and performances. In all, Dum
Maaro Dum is a total paisa wasool movie.
